Black History month is a reminder that we are not new we are not useless and that we are all people of importance. It is February.

Although there is a lot of controversy about what this topic may mean or represent to me Black History month is not about what was done to African Americans but about what they were able to endure overcome and what they have been able to achieve.

What does black history mean to you. Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States where it is also known as African-American History MonthIt has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada and more recently has been observed in Ireland the Netherlands and the United KingdomIt began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history. It means I get to reflect on the past. Black history is American history so i want to make sure that were able to share it and engage with itWe.

I get to embrace who I am in an even special way. Black History Month is a celebration of knowledge. It represents the past present and future of the African American Culture.

Its a reminder of all the positive and innovative things that have come from our culture and how it made a huge impact on future generations. The fact of the matter is Black history is American history. But yet people are people regardless of the colour of your skin if we cut ourselves we bleed if were hurt well cry we all have the same emotions we all feel pain hurt anger and happiness.

The month of February to be specific. The African American impact on history is far-reaching and is deeply etched in the social fabric of America. A long rich history that was before America.

Black history is not just for Black people. Celebrating Black History month shouldnt be a time when people speak up about their opinions. What does Black History mean to me.

Its about integrity leadership and determination. Black History is a time of rejoicing celebrating And thanking those African-Americans for giving Us hope or a life lesson that could be used. So we hope youll join us in this roundup of some important terms in Black history past and present.

And now Black History Month. It means knowing the importance of the sacrifices that were made for me to have the opportunities I have now. It is officially Black History Month.

Above all else the activities of Black History Month should be more than a celebration of one community. Black History Month is a catalyst for learning self-discovery and international recognition. So you just being taught about the negative sides of black history is putting black people down almost saying that we were never good enough.

Black History Month is a time to think and reflect on what it means to be an African American. It is representative of our struggles our resilience and our triumphs. This month is celebrated every year to celebrate the achievements of Black individuals in this country.

In the UK it should use the history of black Britons as a lens to understand what it means. I am able to reflect on the progress that was made over time to the point where we are today. While some advocate for yearlong awareness of issues that are often highlighted during Black History Month such as voting rights and access to health care.

We cannot talk about American history without talking about African American history. Black history is American history and its vital we always continue or revisit our learning all year roundand not only during Black History Month. Each year in February the United States celebrates Black History Month commemorating the achievements of African Americans and recognizing their central role in the history of our country.

Black history means knowing my roots and how I got here. It shows that we are all connected that we all share the same problems and that we can all work together to find solutions. That week selected to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass went on to become an entire month.

These two stories are intrinsically intertwined. Black History is a time when we can be reminded About what it means to be an African-American. I am very excited about this month.

Black History isnt just about all the bad times Weve been through. To me Black History Month is a celebration of every single person who is a part of the African diaspora. Black History month is a time to reflect back on the activists and organizers of the past who fought for racial equality for everyone.
